Perform maintenance on manual and automated telecommunications equipment.

Supervise and manage personnel performing operations and maintenance of tactical and strategic telecommunications centers and automated message switches; develop and enforce policy and procedures for facility management; develop, direct and supervise training and security programs to ensure Soldier proficiency and career development; organize work schedules and ensure compliance with directives and policies on operations security, signal security, communications security and physical security; write unit or facility standing operating procedures; arrange higher level or contractor support maintenance for assigned equipment; prepare or supervise the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence and records pertaining to system Signal operations; perform the duties of COMSEC material custodian in accordance with appropriate regulations and orders; supervise the operation of the ISSO; recommend policies, procedures, standards and conventions; establish and operate the printing and duplication control program; supervise and implement classified document control policies, procedures, standards and inspections; coordinate and provide guidance on printing and publication account procedures, processes and regulatory requirements; brief staff and operations personnel on telecommunications matters; Information systems chief supervises, plans coordinates and directs the employment, operation, management, and unit level maintenance of multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems in mobile and fixed facilities; provides technical and tactical advice to command and staff concerning all aspects of information processing system operations, maintenance, and logistical support; supervises installation, operation, strapping, restrapping, PMCS and unit level maintenance on COMSEC devices; conducts briefings on the status, relationship, and interface of information processing systems within assigned area of interest; supervises or prepares technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems; plans, organizes, and conducts technical inspections; supervises development of the information systems plans (ISP), information management plan (IMP), and information management master plan (IMMP); reviews, consolidates, and forwards final written input for the continuity of operations plan (COOP); develops and enforces policy and procedures for facility operations and management; enforces information security (INFOSEC), operations security (OPSEC), and physical security per regulations and policies; prepares or supervises the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, software programs, program editing, debugging, and associated functions; and maintains records pertaining to information system operations; briefs staff and operations personnel on information systems matters.

Information systems chief supervises, plans coordinates and directs the employment, operation, management, and unit level maintenance of multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems in mobile and fixed facilities; provides technical and tactical advice to command and staff concerning all aspects of information processing system operations, maintenance, and logistical support; supervises installation, operation, strapping, restrapping, PMCS and unit level maintenance on COMSEC devices; conducts briefings on the status, relationship, and interface of information processing systems within assigned area of interest; supervises or prepares technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, and records pertaining to multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems; plans, organizes, and conducts technical inspections; supervises development of the information systems plans (ISP), information management plan (IMP), and information management master plan (IMMP); reviews, consolidates, and forwards final written input for the continuity of operations plan (COOP); develops and enforces policy and procedures for facility operations and management; enforces information security (INFOSEC), operations security (OPSEC), and physical security per regulations and policies; prepares or supervises the preparation of technical studies, evaluations, reports, correspondence, software programs, program editing, debugging, and associated functions; and maintains records pertaining to information system operations; briefs staff and operations personnel on information systems matters.

Install, operate and perform maintenance in telecommunications centers and Certification Authority Workstations; operate automated message switches and strategic telecommunications centers using system command consoles, computer terminals, processors, magnetic tape units, disk packs, tape readers, visual display units, facsimile and associated COMSEC devices; processes message traffic; install, operate, perform strapping, restrapping, PMCS and unit level maintenance on COMSEC devices; perform Battlefield Information Services, consisting of printing services, publications management, files and forms management, reproduction services, Freedom of Information Act /Privacy Act, Unit Distribution/Official Mail, correspondence management, classified document control and messenger service within the Information Systems Security Officer; operate and perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on assigned communications equipment, vehicles and generators; supervise, install, operate and perform maintenance on tactical telecommunications centers and Certification Authority Workstations, automated message switches and strategic telecommunications facilities; requisition, receive, store, issue and account for COMSEC equipment and associated keying material; interpret publications, policies and procedures as applicable to tactical and strategic telecommunications and message switching center operations; perform off-line message recovery and tracer actions; correct message and circuit continuity discrepancies; coordinate with system operators and controllers to resolve system and circuit difficulties; supervise the operation of computer terminal devices, maintains files and records, composes and edits correspondence and documents; generates reports for the ISSO; set up and maintain logs, rosters, status boards, charts, graphs, view graphs and performs messenger supervisory duties required by information service support; request operating supplies and spare parts; develop and administer on-site training programs; direct and supervise restoration of systems and circuits; requests logistical support and coordinates system integration; ensure spare parts, supplies and operating essentials are requisitioned and maintained; supervise and perform maintenance management and administrative duties related to facility operations, maintenance, security and personnel; prepare emergency evacuation and destruction plans; requisition, receive, store, issue, destroy and account for COMSEC equipment and keying material, including over the air keying operations; supervise ISSO functions; provide verbal and written guidance and direction for the installation, operation and maintenance of specified battlefield information services; provide technical assistance and resolve problems for information services support personnel, functional users and functional staff; compose correspondence, set up and maintains: logs, rosters, status boards, charts, graphs and view graphs required for information service support; supervise subordinate personnel performing information service support duties.
