Assists the nursing staff in preparing the patient and the operating room.

Performs duties shown in the preceding skill level and provides technical guidance to subordinates; coordinate activities of the OR and CMS with other elements of the medical treatment facility; develops, monitors and evaluates training; establishes policies for and monitors exposure levels of sterilization chemicals and anesthetic gases with the OR; participates in the preparation of the OR and CMS budget; supervises and advises subordinate personnel; must be qualified in an MOS in CMF 91 (Medical) at the 4 skill level; supervises and provides technical guidance within the Army Medical Department and Army Special Staff Activities.

Assist in preparing patients and operating room environment for surgery and provides assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures to include the creation and maintenance of sterile fields for surgical procedures, the draping of patients, the preparation, manipulation, and delivery of basic surgical instruments and equipment, and the accountability for all instruments, needles, sponges and medications placed within the sterile field; the duties do not include the manipulation of tissue (cutting, suturing, cannulating, grafting, sawing or drilling); perform various preoperative and postoperative procedures as directed; maintain the cleanliness of the operating room; receives, cleans, decontaminates, sterilizes, stores and issues various medical supplies and equipment used during surgical procedures; responsible for the sterilization process, which includes inspecting, cleaning, assembling, warping and sterilizing equipment; operates and runs sterilization checks on a variety of sterilization equipment to include Steam, ETO, Sterrad and Steris Systems; provides technical guidance to subordinates; perform circulator services under the direct supervision on an RN as required; sets up, positions, and operates specialized and advanced operating room equipment; supervises and advises subordinate personnel; provides technical guidance to subordinates; implements and monitors the automatic war and clinic delivery system; monitor quality of sterilization techniques to ensure adherence to established standards; supervise the maintenance programs in the operating room and the central material service; establishes stock levels for requisitioning supplies and equipment and supervises their storage and issue; prepares and maintains various reports and files; supervises and advises subordinate personnel.

Must be qualified in an MOS in CMF 91 (Medical) at the 4 skill level; supervises and provides technical guidance within the Army Medical Department and Army Special Staff Activities; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.
