Perform cartographic and terrain analysis duties.

The topographic engineering supervisor supervises topographic surveying, cartography and photolithography activities; assists in topographic planning and control activities; assists in determining requirements and providing technical supervision of topographic mapping and other military geographic intelligence programs, to include geodetic and topographic surveying activities; assists in command supervision and coordination of map reproduction and topographic map supply programs; provides staff supervision and principal noncommissioned officer direction to units engaged in performing topographic engineering missions; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officer.

Extracts terrain data from remote sensed imagery, field reconnaissance, digital data, existing topographic products and other collateral data sources; records analysis results addition to a military graphic data base; draws, scribes, digitizes and scans cultural, topographic, hydrographic, and/or other features on overlay/scribing surfaces or in digital formats; utilizes basic drafting techniques to tailor terrain products and revises planimetric and topographic maps; performs digital manipulation of topographic information by querying, viewing, evaluating, and downloading digital data; provides technical guidance to the soldiers in accomplishment of their duties; analyzes collected military geographic information to produce tactical decision aids; predicts terrain and weather effects as applied to command, control, communication, computer, and intelligence systems; performs data base management for the storage of aerial photographs, maps, digital data bases, and collateral source materials; performs quality assurance during all stages of topographic operations; supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance; evaluates source materials for military geographic information analysis; supervises quality assurance during all stages of topographic operations; ensures required administrative, intelligence, source data, and reference files are maintained; advises command and staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations and doctrine.
