Installs, operates, and performs organizational maintenance on both general and multipurpose portable generator sets.

Must know fundamentals of electricity and its application to portable power generating equipment; must know fundamentals of gasoline and diesel engine operation; must know safety and operating characteristics of electrical and mechanical protective and controlling devices; must know precautions to be exercised when working with electrical equipment and emergency action required in case of injury to personnel; must know organizational maintenance procedures for general purpose portable generators, are welders, and necessary equipment; must be able to diagnose malfunctioning electrical equipment, and gasoline and diesel engines; must be able to use mechanic's and electrical hand tools and measuring and testing devices; must be able to compute voltage, amperage, and resistance factors involving simple algebraic equations; must be able to erect expedient outside distribution lines and cables for short distances; must be qualified as Power Generation Equipment Operator Mechanic (52B20); must know organizational maintenance procedures applicable to multipurpose generators and frequency converters and auxiliary and associated equipment; must know how to troubleshoot, adjust, diagnose, replace assemblies, and perform operational test on applicable equipment; must be able to perform organizational maintenance on multipurpose auxiliary generators, frequency converters, switch gear, load banks, control panels, and equipment; must be able to use special tools and test equipment required to perform organizational maintenance on portable multipurpose power generating equipment; must be qualified as Power Generation Specialist (52D20); must know policies, procedures, and criteria for repair of power generation equipment; must know shop practices to employ in repair of power generation equipment, maintenance of test equipment, and hand and power tools, and for efficient shop operation; must know repair parts requisitions, storage, and issue procedures; must be able to diagnose more complex equipment malfunctions and determine extent of repairs and parts required; must be able to perform final inspection and test-operate repaired equipment to insure correct and complete repairs; must be able to comprehend and transmit technical information pertinent to power generation equipment maintenance; must be able to prepare and maintain repair reports and records; must be able to organize and administer on-the-job training in power generation equipment maintenance.

Must be qualified as High Voltage Electrician (52G40); must know technical mission, responsibilities, and operations of company to which assigned; must know techniques and tactics pertaining to unit defense; must know military subjects including drill and parade formations, field sanitation, field mess operations, selection of bivouac areas, and use of unit weapons; must know Army clerical, personnel, and administrative procedures, regulations, and directives applicable to company operations; must know format of Army correspondence, format of company orders, preparation of morning report, maintenance of duty rosters, and regulations governing mail service at company level; must know channels servicing company; must know fundamentals of requisitioning and storage of rations, preparation and serving of food and care of mess equipment to assure that unit mess meets prescribed standards; must be able to read and utilize TOE, TDA, and supply manuals.

Must be qualified as Power Station Operator (52E20); must know demonstration and explanation of methods and procedures in operation of substation; must be able to supervise personnel engaged in operation and maintenance of substation or generating station equipment; must be qualified as High Voltage Electrician (52G40); must know technical mission, responsibilities, and operations of company to which assigned; must know techniques and tactics pertaining to unit defense; must know military subjects including drill and parade formations, field sanitation, field mess operations, selection of bivouac areas, and use of unit weapons; must know Army clerical, personnel, and administrative procedures, regulations, and directives applicable to company operations; must know format of Army correspondence, format of company orders, preparation of morning report, maintenance of duty rosters, and regulations governing mail service at company level; must know channels servicing company; must know fundamentals of requisitioning and storage of rations, preparation and serving of food and care of mess equipment to assure that unit mess meets prescribed standards; must be able to read and utilize TOE, TDA, and supply manuals.
