Job Detail

Performs organizational, direct and general support maintenance on fixed cryptographic systems communications security equipment.

Supervises the performance of direct support, general support and depot level maintenance, calibration, and installation of communications-electronic equipment; determines requirements, assigns duties and coordinates the activities of subordinate personnel; advises maintenance officer or unit commander on maintenance activities; assists command and staff in continuous appraisal of communications-electronic equipment maintenance, calibration, and installation, operations, and training; provides guidance to subordinate personnel; applies policies and procedures for facility/unit/station management; supervises the duties performed by subordinate personnel engages in installation/maintenance; determines effectiveness of performance to meet workload demands; provides advice and makes, recommendations to the commander aid staff on all matters pertain to enlisted personnel and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections and visits and at ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities facilities aid personnel as prescribed by the commander; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instructions; insures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs, of the service, and command regulations or policies; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted personnel of the command; inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; sits as president or, member of command promotion board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; performs other duties prescribed by, the commander.

Performs organizational, direct support and general support maintenance on fixed cryptographic systems COMSEC equipment, assemblies and accessory items consisting of a single basic item of equipment and/or integrated signal preparation and reconversion (interface) equipment utilized to provide COMSEC; makes operating adjustments makes operating adjustments and emergency repairs; performs prescribed maintenance routine and checks to determine and establish the materiel readiness and serviceability of fixed cryptographic systems COMSEC equipment; repairs and overhauls equipment to the extent authorized by appropriate directive and standards; conducts detailed tests to diagnose and isolate cause of malfunctioning or inoperative equipment; applies electronic theory and analysis techniques in diagnosis and isolation of equipment of component failures; removes and examines components and parts; replaces faulty items; traces circuit continuity; determines whether reported equipment troubles are due to local fixed systems COMSEC equipment malfunctions or other equipment through use of systems troubleshooting techniques; applies authorized modification work orders; airlines, adjusts, and test-operates repaired and modified items to assure proper functioning; keeps maintenance logs and records; submits maintenance reports; prepares equipment improvement recommendations in accordance with Army equipment records system; ensures authorized tools and test equipment are available, properly cared for and calibrated at' all times; performs organizational, direct support and general support maintenance on fixed cryptographic systems COMSEC equipment, assemblies and accessory items consisting of a single basic-item of equipment and/or integrated signal preparation and reconversion (interface) equipment utilized to provide COMSEC; adjusts and makes emergency repairs; conducts prescribed maintenance checks to determine and establish the materiel readiness and serviceability of fixed cryptographic systems COMSEC equipment; makes necessary repairs and overhauls equipment to the extent authorized by appropriate directive and standards; tests equipment to diagnose and isolate cause of malfunction or inoperative status equipment; utilizes electronic theory and analysis techniques to diagnose and isolate equipment component failures; removes and replaces faulty items; makes circuit continuity checks; makes a determination of location of systems malfunction using proper localization procedures and techniques; installs authorized modification work orders; conducts proper alignment procedures and test-operates repaired and modified items to assure proper operation; maintains maintenance logs and records and submits maintenance reports as required; prepares equipment improvement recommendations in accordance with Army equipment records system; maintains authorized tools and test equipment; provides technical guidance to lower graded personnel as required; supervises and instructs subordinate personnel in installation, maintenance, repair, modification and inspection of COMSEC equipment; supervises subordinate personnel in required safeguarding and control of classified defense information and material; supervises subordinate personnel in required safeguarding and control of COMSEC materiel which includes documents, devices, and equipment essential to communications security; inspects COMSEC equipment repairs and modifications to assure proper maintenance techniques and procedures have been employed; supervises maintenance and clerical personnel in preparation of work orders, requisitions and correspondence pertinent to COMSEC maintenance activities; ensures that subordinate personnel maintain stocks of materials and replacement parts/components when authorized to ensure continuous COMSEC equipment maintenance capability; schedules workload in consonance with best maintenance practices and procedures in order to maintain a high level of efficiency and pro
