Supervise, inspects and performs maintenance and repairs on the OH-58D armament, electrical, and avionics systems.
Diagnosis, troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in the OH-58D armament, electrical and avionics systems and components including solid state and transistorized subsystems according to pertinent technical manuals, directives and safety procedures; performs maintenance, authorized modifications and alignment on aircraft weapons components, fire control units, sighting elements, electronic and mechanical devices; repairs, replaces and performs operational and preventive checks and alignments on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment; troubleshoots equipment wiring harnesses using technical manuals and schematic drawing to diagnose and isolate faults and effect repairs; tests, troubleshoots and repairs test sets and diagnostic equipment; maintains records on weapons and subsystems; uses and performs operator maintenance common and special tools; prepares forms and records related to MOS; performs duties for previous skill level and provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel; schedules maintenance on test measurement, and diagnostic equipment; alters or modifies material according to DA approved modification work orders; participates in maintenance test flights as required; supervises and provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel performing aircraft armament, electrical and avionics system maintenance; evaluates maintenance operation and facilities for compliance with directives, technical manuals, work standards, safety procedures and operational policies; performs maintenance trend analysis and applies production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to armament, electrical and avionics shop operations; supervise the establishment of the Forward Area Rearming Point; instructs personnel and conducts technical training in aircraft armament, electrical and avionics systems repair procedures and shop and flight line safety; evaluate the technical training program; monitors requisition of parts, tools and supplies.

The aircraft maintenance senior sergeant supervises aviation unit maintenance (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM), and depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft maintenance and/or component repair MOS; prepares studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, component repair, and related activities; plans aircraft maintenance areas, components repair shops, and facilities; apply production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft maintenance and shop operations; supervise the verification and validation of technical manuals, training devices and contractor furnished training material pertaining to new aircraft and/or component fielding; supervise research and development projects in aviation and related areas; assist in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype aircraft and components; supervise the development and instruction of training programs; recommend and establish plans, policies, and procedures for aircraft maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officers.
