Supervise and perform maintenance on aircraft structures.

The aircraft maintenance senior sergeant supervises aviation unit maintenance (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM), and depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft maintenance and/or component repair MOS; prepares studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, component repair, and related activities; plans aircraft maintenance areas, components repair shops, and facilities; apply production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft maintenance and shop operations; supervise the verification and validation of technical manuals, training devices and contractor furnished training material pertaining to new aircraft and/or component fielding; supervise research and development projects in aviation and related areas; assist in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype aircraft and components; supervise the development and instruction of training programs; recommend and establish plans, policies, and procedures for aircraft maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds first sergeants' or sergeants' major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officers.

Supervise unmanned aircraft systems maintenance and technical inspection activities; determine man-hours, personnel, parts and facility requirements to repair unmanned aircraft systems and associated equipment; plan maintenance areas, component repair, technical inspection techniques, and procedures, according to directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies; maintains supply economy and discipline; supervises the unmanned aircraft systems technical training program; prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to unmanned aircraft systems maintenance and related activities; recommends and administers plans and policies; the aircraft maintenance senior sergeant supervises aviation unit maintenance (AVUM), intermediate (AVIM), and depot maintenance in activities having a mix of aircraft maintenance and/or component repair MOS; prepares studies, evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance, component repair, and related activities; plans aircraft maintenance areas, components repair shops, and facilities; apply production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft maintenance and shop operations; supervise the verification and validation of technical manuals, training devices and contractor furnished training material pertaining to new aircraft and/or component fielding; supervise research and development projects in aviation and related areas; assist in the development of maintenance procedures for prototype aircraft and components; supervise the development and instruction of training programs; recommend and establish plans, policies, and procedures for aircraft maintenance operations; maintains supply economy and discipline.

Repairs and replaces aircraft structural components to include stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures; fabricates structural parts, forming blocks and shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques; mixes and applies fiberglass materials; makes emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures; uses common measuring tools, precision measuring gages and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs; balances fixed-wing aircraft controls such as flags and ailerons; mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces; applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals; requisitions and maintains shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft structures; maintains facilities for storage of flammable and hazardous materials; uses and performs operator maintenance on common and special tools; prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance; provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers; supervises and provides technical guidance to subordinate personnel performing aircraft structural system maintenance; evaluates maintenance operations and facilities for compliance with directives, technical manuals, work standards, safety procedures, and operational policies; performs maintenance trend analysis and applies production control, quality control, and other maintenance management principles and procedures to aircraft structural system maintenance and shop operations; instructs personnel and conducts technical training in aircraft structural system maintenance, supply, and safety techniques; evaluates the technical training program; monitors requisition of parts, tools, and supplies.
