Supervise construction, repair, and utility services of buildings, warehouses, fixed bridges, port facilities, and petroleum pipelines, tanks, and related equipment.

Devises network flow diagrams such as the critical path method and coordinates work activities of supporting units; provides supervision over all structural and utility construction projects; inspects subordinate elements to ensure compliance with directives, construction drawings, and specifications; plans and organizes for combat engineering missions; the general engineering supervisor supervises general engineering activities related to all construction and utility operations; assists engineering officer in construction planning, scheduling, and material estimating; assists in the preparation of operation orders, standing operating procedures, and contingency plans; provides staff supervision and principal noncommissioned officer direction to units engaged in performing general engineering missions; inspects construction and training activities; supervises performance of combat engineering missions.

The engineer senior sergeant inspects and advises on bridging, rafting, and river crossing operations; supervises general engineering activities related to all construction and utility operations; formulates and maintains construction schedules; assist in supervision of troops in assault operations; perform ground and aerial reconnaissance; advises engineer staff section personnel in matters involving combat engineer operations; assist engineering officer in construction planning, scheduling, and material estimating; assist in the preparation of operation orders, standing operating procedures, and contingency plans; coordinates with staff agencies for engineer operational and tactical support; coordinates employment of engineer elements operating with infantry and armored units; inspects construction sites and enforces job specification and safety standards; collects, interprets, analyzes, evaluates, and disseminates intelligence data; provides staff supervision and principal noncommissioned officer direction to units engaged in performing engineering missions; inspects construction and training activities; supervises performance of combat engineering missions; provides advice and makes recommendations to the commander and staff on all matters pertaining to enlisted soldiers and their families; accompanies the commander on inspections, visits and ceremonies; assists in inspection of command activities, facilities and personnel as prescribed by the commander; ensures adherence to command policies; holds First Sergeants' or Sergeants' Major call to announce information and instruction; ensures that newly assigned enlisted personnel are instructed in military courtesy, customs of the service and command regulations or policies; responsible for monitoring training or conducts training of enlisted soldiers; assesses training at all levels and provides feedback to appropriate commanders and leaders; provides counsel and guidance to NCOs and other enlisted soldiers of the command; responsible for and provides guidance on Non-Commissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Non-Commissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP); inspects duties performed by subordinate NCOs; notes discrepancies and initiates appropriate corrective action; assists in reception of visitors to the command; serves as president or member of command promotion board or removal board for NCOs, as authorized by regulations; sits as chairperson or member of a command's Military Member of the Quarter/Year competition for enlisted soldiers or NCOs, as directed by local regulations; responsible for quality, control and training of noncommissioned officer evaluation reports (NCOER) while ensuring timely submissions; reviews evaluation reports to determine compliance with policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions on deficiencies to commanders, other leaders and rating officials; performs other duties prescribed by the commander; assists in the professional development of junior and company grade officers.

Employ basic carpentry and masonry skills; assists in building layout, framing, sheathing, fabrication and roofing structures; assist in erection of rough timber structures; reads and interprets drawings, plans and specifications; repairs and renovates all types of structures and erects prefabricated buildings; constructs concrete form work for slabs, walls, and columns; assists in performance of combat engineer missions, Reserve Components (RC) assists in sawmill set up and operation; interpret construction drawings and blueprints; prepares building layout; constructs wooden or concrete foundation and erects building framework; install flooring, walls, partitions, siding, roofing, doors, windows, stairs, and interior finishing; erect prefabricated and pre- engineered metal structures; apply proper concrete curing methods; directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment; Reserve Components perform millwright, head saw operator, and edger functions during sawmill operations; reads and interprets construction drawings; estimate material, time, equipment, and labor requirements; supervise the construction and repair of wood frame, concrete, masonry or prefabricated structures; supervise the installation and repair of utility systems; inspect structures and facilities to ensure compliance with specifications; direct operator maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment; directs combat engineering missions.
